John Edward Dittrich

Dr. John Edward Dittrich, 78 Years of age died at St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas on January 14, 2010. Dr. Dittrich was born November 16, 1931 to Wilbur and Mary Frances Bradshaw Dittrich. He served with the Sac squadron USAir Force during the Korean Conflict as a boom operator, transferring fuel to bombers enroute to targets.

Dr. Dittrich received his Bachelor of Arts at Krannert School of Finance at Purdue, MBA from Harvard Business School, and PhD from University of Washington. Dr. Dittrich was a Woodrow Wilson Scholar. He declined to attend MIT in order to study at Harvard BS. Dr. Dittrich was an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky, Full Professor at the University of Colorado, Dean at Bloomsburg University, Pennsylvania, and West Texas A & M at Canyon.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Dittrich, Kingsland, Texas, daughter, Susan Dittrich-Delk and granddaughter, Kaleigh Delk, of Brady, Texas, son and daughter-in-law, Jacob A. and Anne Dittrich, grandson, Jeffrey, of Odessa, Texas, daughters, Christine, Kathy and Adele, sisters, Katie McMillin, Martha Smith and especially dear to him, Louise Routt, of Bloomington, Indiana.

Celebration of Life services will be held at the Putnam Funeral Chapel Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 10:30 am. Rev. Mike Morris will officiate with the Highland Lakes Honor Guard. An online guest register may be signed at www.putnamfunerals.com.
