David “Dave” T. Gautier, 76, of Kingsland, passed away June 29, 2010. He was born to Claude T. and Sybil (Smith) Gautier on December 3, 1933 in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Gautier graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Texas in 1952 and furthered his education at Texas A&M University. On July 3, 1954, he married Nancy McAnally and they had two daughters, Stacey and Julia. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Dave owned and operated Gautier Truck and Trailer in Hamilton and worked as a tool maker in Weatherford and San Benito, Texas. He retired in December 1999 and moved to Kingsland in April 2000. Nancy passed away in January of 2002. On October 8, 2002, Dave married Patricia Fleming Shade on October 8, 2002.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Jaycees Club of Hamilton, and a volunteer firefighter for the City of Hamilton. He also served many years as a Little League volunteer coach in Hamilton. Mr. Gautier was a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteer for seven years and was recently awarded CASA for the Highland Lakes Volunteer of the Year awarded. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and especially enjoyed his Thursday’s starter at The Legends Golf Club in Kingsland. He was a member of Christ Redeemer Fellowship in Granite Shoals.
Mr. Gautier is survived by his wife Pat Gautier, of Kingsland, daughters, Julia Schumaker and husband John D., of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Stacey Gautier and husband Chris Pritchard, of Palmer Township, PA. In addition, he is survived by Pat’s children, J.D. Shade and wife Felicia, of Plano, Texas, Kevin Shade and wife Cathy, of Carrollton, TX, Joy Clay and husband George, of Tom Bean, Texas, Brian Shade and wife Debby, of McKinney, TX, Kathleen Neely and husband Ken, of Johnson City, Texas, Kyle Shade and wife Christina, of Seattle, WA, grandsons, Merit Schumaker, of Madison, WI, Hunter Schumaker, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Tyler Shade, of Dallas, TX, Josh Clay, of Tom Bean, TX, Ben Neely, of Kingsland, Trevor Shade, of McKinney, TX, Luke Neely, of Johnson City, TX, Logan Shade, Seattle, WA, granddaughters, Casey Petrillo, of McKinney, TX, Marissa Clay, of Denison, TX; Sarah Shade, of Austin, TX, Laura Shade of Carrollton, TX, Faith Clay, of Tom Bean, TX, Morgan Shade, of Plano, TX, and Meredith Neely, of Johnson City, TX, great grandson, Andrew Petrillo, of McKinney, TX, brothers, Don Gautier and Jean, of Temple, TX, Jerry Gautier, of China Spring, TX, Bob Gautier and Johnnye, of Hamilton, Bill Gautier, of Granger, TX, sister, Pam Eilers and Larry, of Pottsville, TX, and brothers-in-law, Bob Turner, of Whitney, TX, and Larry Fleming and wife Jan, of Auburn, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Dave was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Turner.
